They were both elegant and entitled swans... They presumptuously put themselves beyond authority... Both the golf diva and the social diva... It was the assertion of personal privilege by Tiger and Desiree that was so off-putting... these two controlling players spiraled out of control... She mistook herself for the principal, sashaying around...Yes, they're both quite uppity, aren't they?
The first question Ms. Dowd and her allegedly liberal fans need to ask themselves is: why these two? Why not focus on presumptuous players Tareq and Michaele Salahi, entitled adulterer Max Baucus, sashaying diva Carrie Prejeans, asserter of personal privilege Roman Polanski, or any of the many other celebrities and wannabes who have dominated the scandal headlines recently? As Jamison Foser asks, "What's behind Maureen Dowd's contempt for Desiree Rogers?"
